AgEng2024, held in Athens, particularly its sessions related to Education and Rural Development, created an excellent platform for sharing innovative ideas and results.
This conference aimed to bridge the gap between the research community and the production sector. Here are some of the projects that were showcased in Athens.
Dimitris Michas from the Institute for Bio-economy and Agri-technology iBO/CERTH Hellas presented the Relief Project (www.relief.uop.gr). He focused on the training needs analysis for integrating bioeconomy approaches into the EU’s agricultural sector.
Tetiana Pavlenko from Hochschule Geisenheim University discussed the acceptance of cutting-edge technologies by involving students from Germany, France, Italy, the USA, New Zealand, and Greece enrolled in viticulture studies. She emphasized the importance of adapting educational curricula to raise awareness of climate change, a significant factor in the acceptance of precision farming technologies.
Manuel Perez-Ruiz from Universidad de Sevilla presented the VTskills project, “Cooperation for Upskilling and Building Regional Ecosystems in Sustainable Precision Viticulture”. He highlighted the importance of promoting digital, green and resilient skills in sustainable precision viticulture.
