17–18 June 2025 in EU Seminar Highlights the Power of On-Farm Demonstrations for Peer Learning. The EU CAP Network held in Mestre, Italy, focused on the role of on-farm demonstrations in promoting peer-to-peer learning and agricultural innovation.
The event brought together agricultural stakeholders from across Europe to discuss the value of on-farm demonstrations in promoting innovation, knowledge exchange, and practical learning among farmers
The event showcased successful demonstration practices, explored challenges in funding and managing demonstration farms, and emphasized their integration into Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS). It also highlighted the value of demonstration farms in EU projects like EIP-AGRI and Horizon Europe for sharing new knowledge and practical solutions with farmers.
On-farm demonstrations—whether on lighthouse farms, living labs, or within training institutions—were recognised as key tools for hands-on learning and innovation uptake. The seminar called for better coordination, more demonstration sites, and stronger support to maximize their impact across the EU.
